Peace psychology studies how violence starts, how it is sustained, and how it can be prevented and repaired, from a quarrel between neighbours to war between states. For example, two communities that share a water source may avoid conflict when they negotiate rules together, but slide toward it when rumours frame the other side as a threat. This chapter covers violence, non-violence, macro-level conflict resolution and the media.
