Gender, poverty, disability and migration

Psychology's emerging areas ask who is pushed to the margins, by what processes, and with what human cost. For example, a capable student who is repeatedly passed over because of gendered expectations is not facing a private lack of confidence but cultural bias and discrimination. This chapter connects gender, poverty, disability and migration through stigma, marginalisation and social suffering, and includes child abuse and domestic violence.
