Analytic philosophy treats clarity as the first philosophical virtue: analyse language, and many puzzles dissolve. Frege split sense from reference, the logical positivists demanded verification, Russell analysed descriptions, and Wittgenstein moved from pictures to use. For example, 'the morning star' and 'the evening star' refer to the same planet but present it in different ways, which is exactly Frege's distinction at work.
