This chapter brings together four very different Indian voices: Bhattacharyya on freedom in thought, Radhakrishnan on intuition and universal religion, Krishnamurti on freedom from the known, and Gandhi on truth and non-violence as a way of life. For example, Gandhi would test a political tactic by one question only: does it hold fast to truth without injuring the opponent? Their shared theme is freedom, but each locates it in a different place.
