Karma-yoga is action without attachment to its fruit, taught in the Bhagavad Gita as the path for a person who must act in the world. The sthitaprajna, the person of steady wisdom, acts with equanimity in success and failure, doing svadharma for lokasamgraha, the welfare and holding together of the world. For example, a doctor who treats patients conscientiously during an epidemic without chasing praise or fearing blame practises karma-yoga.
