Talent management is the integrated system for attracting, identifying, developing, deploying and retaining people whose skills are critical to strategy — not just senior managers, but anyone in a pivotal role. It runs as a pipeline: workforce planning identifies pivotal roles, acquisition brings in the right people, development grows them, deployment puts them where they matter most, and retention keeps them. Employee engagement is different but related: it is the emotional and intellectual commitment an employee brings to the work — engaged employees say good things, stay, and strive. Worked example: a firm that pays top salaries yet loses its best engineers is usually failing engagement, not compensation — people stay where their work matters, their manager listens, and their growth is visible.
