Women entrepreneurship means ventures owned, controlled and managed by women, where women hold the majority stake and the leadership. Rural entrepreneurship means ventures in rural areas using local resources, skills and markets — from agro-processing and handicrafts to rural services and tourism. Both matter for the same reason: they spread enterprise beyond cities and beyond the groups that traditionally owned businesses, creating incomes where jobs are scarce. Worked example: a women's self-help group that starts by pooling savings, learns food processing, and sells pickles through a district federation shows both ideas at once — women's ownership plus rural resources — and its success depends less on the recipe than on credit access, training, marketing links and the confidence to sell beyond the village.
