Community and reference services

Reference service is the human heart of librarianship: a librarian working with a user to turn a vague need into a trustworthy answer. Community information extends that work beyond the library walls, connecting residents with practical information about housing, health, work and local services. A newcomer asking where to register a child for school needs community information, not a research database.
