An information source is any carrier from which a user can obtain facts, ideas, data or opinions, from a printed book to a live dataset. This chapter explains what makes a source reliable, how sources differ in origin and form, and how a librarian matches a source to a question. A student who needs a current statistic and a researcher who needs an original theory will not, and should not, be given the same source.
