Medieval Indian history rests on a far richer archive than earlier periods: court chronicles, Sufi writings, inscriptions, coins and foreign travellers' accounts. A concrete example is Ziauddin Barani, whose Tarikh-i-Firuz Shahi records Sultanate politics from a courtier's viewpoint, with all its biases and insights. Learning to read these sources critically — asking who wrote, for whom, and what they omitted — is the core skill of this unit.
