Fiction is the art of invented narrative, and the exam tests your grip on how stories are built: plot, character, point of view, setting and theme, plus the forms they take. Example: an unreliable narrator tells a story whose facts the reader must doubt — the narrator of a confession that contradicts itself is not a mistake by the author but a technique, and spotting it is worth marks.
