Change in schools fails more often from poor management than from poor ideas. Lewin's three-step model explains why: people must first unfreeze old habits, then move to new practices, then refreeze the new ways so they stick. Worked example: a school adopting a new assessment system that trains teachers, pilots the system in two classes, supports them through problems, and then writes the system into school policy is following unfreeze, move, refreeze — not merely announcing a change.
