Educational technology is not gadgets in classrooms. It is the systematic study and practice of facilitating learning — using processes and resources, designed from learning theory, to improve performance. A blackboard is educational technology; so is a learning management system. Worked example: a teacher who shows a video merely to fill time is using a gadget; one who chooses the video because it visualises a concept pupils cannot see, pauses for prediction, and follows with discussion is practising educational technology.
