Curriculum change and research

Curricula change because societies change: new knowledge, new technology, new values and new demands from work and citizenship. But change is resisted — teachers must relearn, textbooks must be rewritten, examinations must be redesigned. Worked example: introducing environmental education across subjects is not just adding a chapter; it is curriculum change that needs teacher preparation, new materials and new assessment, or it remains a slogan in the document.
