Socialization is how a child becomes a member of society — learning its language, norms and values — and education is its most organised form. The family socialises first, the peer group next, the school formally, and the media constantly. Worked example: a child who learns to queue, share and respect a different religion at school is being socialised into citizenship, not merely taught subjects; that is why the Constitution's values are taught through school life, not only through civics lessons.
