A sale transfers ownership of goods from seller to buyer for a price. It differs from an agreement to sell, where ownership passes later — and the difference decides who bears the loss if goods are destroyed. Worked example: if A agrees to sell unascertained wheat and the wheat is destroyed before it is identified and appropriated to the contract, the loss stays with the seller, because ownership had not yet passed.
