Consumer behaviour is the study of how people decide what to buy, use and discard — and marketing that ignores it guesses blindly. Worked example: a buyer who spends weeks comparing phones reads reviews, asks friends and tests cameras before buying (high involvement, extended problem solving), while the same person grabs a familiar soap without a thought (low involvement, habitual buying) — involvement, not income, explains the difference.
