Financial markets are where money is traded: the money market for short-term funds (under a year) and the capital market for long-term funds. Worked example: a company needing money for 90 days issues commercial paper in the money market, while the same company needing money for a 10-year plant issues shares or debentures in the capital market — the time horizon decides the market, not the borrower.
